Example 8: Cone
Last Updated On: Fri Aug 28 2026Question
A cone has a base radius of 7 cm and a height of 24 cm. Find its slant height, volume, and curved surface area. (Use pi = 22/7.)
Solution
- Slant height l = √(r^2 + h^2) = √(49 + 576) = √625 = 25 cm.
- Volume = 1/3 x pi x r^2 x h = 1/3 x (22/7) x 49 x 24 = 1,232 cm^3.
- Curved surface area = pi x r x l = (22/7) x 7 x 25 = 550 cm^2.
- The slant height is 25 cm, the volume is 1,232 cm^3, and the curved surface area is 550 cm^2.
