Example 4: Average speed
Last Updated On: Tue Aug 25 2026Question
A vehicle travels 60 km at 30 km/h and another 60 km at 60 km/h. Find its average speed.
Solution
- Total distance = 60 + 60 = 120 km.
- Time for the first part = 60/30 = 2 hours; time for the second part = 60/60 = 1 hour.
- Total time = 3 hours.
- Average speed = total distance / total time = 120/3 = 40 km/h.
