| C | 400 | ? | 5% loss |
A "?" marks a missing value.
Question
Find the missing values and the overall profit percentage on the three items.
Solution
- A: profit = 600 - 500 = 100, which is 100 / 500 x 100 = 20% profit.
- B: cost price x 1.10 = 660, so cost price = 600.
- C: selling price = 400 x 0.95 = 380.
- Total cost = 500 + 600 + 400 = 1,500 and total selling price = 600 + 660 + 380 = 1,640.
- Overall profit = 140, so profit percentage = 140 / 1,500 x 100 = 9.33% (approximately).
